About
My name is Darcy Bottaro and you have reached this Website because you have done some searching on the internet for information on subjects I have will be covering or have covered.
I will give you a run down of some of the things I have done in the computer industry for the last 15 years.
17 years ago I had to make a decision on what I wanted to do for work. I had been driving trucks for around 10 years and wanted to do something different. My girlfriend had a Clone type workstation, which was a 386DX25 processor, 8mb ram and a 4Gig Hard Drive. At the time it was running DOS and Windows 3.1. I learned alot and really enjoyed working on computers. So then I made the decision to go back to school and become a Computer Technician.
In the last 15 years I have worked for some different computer stores. I worked at Hewlett Packard as a Technical Support Person. Then I moved on to working for a local College as a Senior System Administrator. I had to try and make the network as secure as possible. With around 10,000 students, around 750 Teachers and a couple hundred support staff. Through this time I have helped home users and small businesses with the computer needs.
Alot of the security information I learned from the internet and I also had training from SANS Institute. As the leading organization in computer security training, the SANS Institute is known for providing intensive, immersion training designed to help you and your staff master the practical steps necessary for defending systems and networks. We also develop, maintain, and make available at no cost the largest collection of research documents about various aspects of information security and operate the Internet's early warning system - the Internet Storm Center. At the heart of SANS are the many security practitioners in government agencies, corporations, and universities around the world who invest hundreds of hours each year in research and teaching to help the entire information security community.
Of course every day I learn new tips and tricks on how to make my Internet Security even better.
